Animal Behaviourist & German Nature Guide

Jessica Ney has had a keen interest in animals and nature conservation since she was young. The African Bush has always been her main area of interest. Whilst still living in Europe, she obtained a BSc in Animal Behaviour & Ecology & Conservation in Cambridge, UK as well as a MSc in Animal Sciences in her hometown Berlin, Germany.

After following her dreams and relocating to South Africa in 2007, she began her guiding career as a Big 5 guide in Kruger National Park. After being offered a job in animal rehabilitation, she spent a few years working at the Jane Goodall Institute Chimpanzee Eden, a sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees. She was their animal behaviourist and head guide. Since 2010, she has moved back to Big 5 guiding in Kruger National Park and its surrounding areas. Jessica is very passionate about guiding and enjoys sharing her knowledge with the guests. She says that she has wanted to work in the African bush for as long as she can remember and has never looked back in the 10 years she has been guiding. It was the best decision ever!

“There is a kind of magic when the guests see their first wild elephant. It reminds me of the joy I felt when I went on my first safari all those years ago. Nature guiding is rewarding and allows me to re-live these special moments over and over again.”
